Course Cancellation Policy
In instances where a student wishes to be prematurely released from their contractual obligation to Sustainable Education, they must in the first instance place a request to withdraw from the course in writing, addressed to the Director, verbal requests will not be accepted. Please note that agreeing to the terms and conditions upon enrolment, that you understand we want you to have the best learning experience so we recommend that in the best interest of all students a commitment of at least 12 month’s will give you the best possible outcome in your sustainable backyard journey. You are welcome to cancel your membership at any time, just remember to follow the guidelines stated in the policy.
Sustainable Education Policy states that:
“Upon receipt of my initial learning material, I acknowledge my commitment to Sustainable Education and understand the initial and ongoing costs incurred by Sustainable Education in respect of my enrolment. I further understand that should I wish to discontinue with my chosen course, I must submit my request in writing. I further agree and understand that should my student fees become two or more months in arrears, I am immediately liable for the full costs of my course enrolment. Upon receipt of the cancellation letter, you will need to allow up to 21 days for a formal response from the Director.”
Plagiarism & Copyright Infringement
The course assessment is designed to allow students to express their own understanding of the relevant theory and its application to sustainable issues.
In order to be marked as ‘Competent’ on a piece of assessment a student must be able to demonstrate their own understanding of a topic by presenting the assessment in their own words and incorporating their own ideas.
Copying sentences and blocks of text directly from readings, textbooks, or other documents including copying of work of another student does not demonstrate a student’s own understanding of the topic. Such practices will be regarded as plagiarism unless the source is appropriately acknowledged or referenced.
Students who are unable to appropriately demonstrate their own understanding of a topic will be marked ‘Not Yet Competent’ and will be required to re-submit the assessment.
1. A student shall not plagiarize any idea, writing, data or invention belonging to another person.
2. For the purposes of this rule, plagiarism includes –
a). the act of taking an idea, writing, data or invention of another person and claiming that the idea, writing, data or invention is the result of one’s own findings or creation; or
b). an attempt to make our or the act of making our, in such a way that one is the original source of the creator of an idea, writing, data or invention which has actually been taken from some other source.
3. Without prejudice to the generality of sub-rule (2) a student plagiarizes when he –
a). publishes, as the author, an abstract, article, scientific or academic paper or book which is wholly or partly written by some other person.
b). incorporates himself/herself or allows himself/herself to be incorporated as a co-author of an abstract, article, scientific or academic paper, or book when he/she has not all made any written contribution to the abstract, article, scientific or academic paper, or book.
c). forces another person to include his/her name in the list of co-researchers for a particular research project or in the list of co-authors for a publication when he has not made any contribution which may qualify him/her as a co-researcher or co-author.
d). extracts academic data which are the results of research undertaken by some other person, whether publishes or unpublished and incorporate that data as part of their research without giving due acknowledgement to the actual source.
e). uses research data obtained through collaborative work with some other person, whether or not that other person is a staff member or a student of Sustainable Education, without obtaining the consent of his co-researches prior to embarking on his/her publication of data.
f). transcribes the ideas or creations of others kept in whatever form, whether written, printed or available in electronic form, or in slide from, or in whatever form of teaching or research apparatus, or in any other form and acclaims whatever directly or indirectly that he is the creator of that idea creation.
g). translates the writing or creation of another person from one language to another whether or not wholly or partly, and subsequently presents the translation in whatever form or manner as his/her own writing or creation.
h). extracts ideas from another person’s writing or creation and makes certain modifications without due reference to the original sources and rearranges the data in such a way that it appears as if he/she is the creator of those ideas.
All logo’s, marks, books, texts, manuals, documents and other education al and administrative material whatsoever owned by Sustainable Education and associated entities are protected by copyright and must not be copied or reproduced either in part or whole or used for gain without the written approval of the Director of Sustainable Education.

I have read sections related to plagiarism.
I agree to take steps to avoid plagiarism, including any practices which relate to plagiarism and apply to my work.
I accept that unacknowledged use of the work of others or the reprint and reuse of the Sustainable Living Certificate Course as my own represents cheating. Any sharing of information, workbooks, videos and giving another access to the course without permission is a violation and you will be terminated as a student.
I accept that the work that I submit for assessment under my name is my own work.
